Talking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going forward till I feel better about the course of our country."
In a blog post, Kapler questioned whether or not the nation's management is dedicated to representing its folks's best interests and whether america is truly "the land of the free and the house of the courageous.""We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he known as "the shortage of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."
"I am not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I might have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied with your country, you let or not it's identified by means of protest. The house of the courageous should encourage this."
