Talking in the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler mentioned, "I do not plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead until I really feel better about the course of our country."

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he referred to as "the shortage of delivery of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."
"I am not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that whenever you're dissatisfied with your nation, you let or not it's identified through protest. The home of the brave should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion against gun violence in the US.Kerr refused to speak about basketball forward of Sport 4 of the Warriors' collection towards the Dallas Mavericks, instead elevating his voice as he railed towards gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's shooting.
"In the final 10 days, we have had aged Black individuals killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've got children murdered in school," Kerr informed reporters initially of the press conference.
"When are we going to do something? I'm drained. I am so tired of getting up here and providing condolences to the devastated families that are on the market ... I'm bored with the moments of silence. Enough."
