ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police said Duff Elementary Faculty was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a dad or mum with a concealed weapon had his gun accidentally go off, hitting the father or mother within the leg.

The varsity had early release and college students have been launched on the planned time of 12:10 p.m.

In keeping with police, the guardian, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by chance shot himself. His damage was not severe.

The school district stated White was inside the building, near the lobby space, and never within the hallway near college students when the gun went off.

No students or employees have been injured. The mother or father was taken to an space hospital after being shot within the leg. 

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities.

Arlington dad and mom said their minds instantly considered the worst after they were notified.

Rasheed mentioned Thursday was the commencement day for sixth grade students at Duff Elementary.

While driving her son to highschool within the morning, she had a talk with him about Uvalde and what to do if one thing ever occurred at his college.

"If one thing occurred, you’ve got to run wherever that’s secure and hide," she advised her baby.

While some say the incident in Uvalde is just too fresh to talk politics, Mitchell mentioned something must be carried out now.
