EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Alabama fugitive Casey White was taken into custody in Indiana, and his suspected confederate, Vicky White, died Monday evening from injuries sustained by a self-inflicted gunshot wound as authorities prepared to arrest the pair, regulation enforcement sources confirmed.

Original report: Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton stated the two fugitives, who are not associated, had been caught near Evansville, Indiana, after a chase with U.S. Marshals, The Related Press reported.
“Casey White and Vicky White are in custody,” Singleton stated. “This has ended a really lengthy and stressful and challenging week and a half. It ended the way in which that we knew it might. They're in custody.”

Vicky White was a jail officer at the prison that was holding Casey White, who was awaiting trial for capital murder. Inmates and officers mentioned they had a “particular relationship,” the AP reported.

The pair had been on the run since April 29 when the 56-year-old jailer advised the Lauderdale County Detention Heart in Florence, Alabama, that she was transporting the 38-year-old inmate for a psychological analysis. As an alternative, they fled.
In line with WAAY-TV, the fugitives have been captured after a pursuit ended when the automobile they were driving crashed.

Casey White surrendered to police following the crash.
Sheriff Dave Marriage ceremony of Vanderburgh County Indiana confirmed to WXIN that Vicky White’s injuries are serious and have been self-inflicted when she shot herself sooner or later during or at the end of the pursuit.

“This escape was obviously well-planned and calculated. A lot of preparation went into this. They had plenty of assets, had tags, had autos. They'd every thing they needed to tug this off,” Singleton stated during a Monday night press convention.
“We obtained a dangerous man off the road as we speak. He is by no means going to see the sunshine of day once more, and that’s a superb thing, not just for our group however that’s a great thing for this nation,” he added.
Evansville is about 175 miles north of Williamson County, Tennessee, where authorities on Thursday found the orange 2007 Ford Edge the pair used in their April 29 escape, the news outlet reported.
