Taliban leader orders ladies to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s ladies to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on women’s lives for the reason that Taliban seized power.

“They need to put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's traditional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a function in Kabul.

“These women who should not too old or young must cowl their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, with a view to keep away from provocation when meeting males who are usually not mahram (grownup close male family members),” the decree said.

It added that if women had no necessary work exterior it was “better they keep at residence.”

During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed comparable restrictions on ladies.
