Talking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going forward till I really feel better concerning the route of our country."
In a blog post, Kapler questioned whether the country's leadership is dedicated to representing its individuals's greatest pursuits and whether the USA is really "the land of the free and the home of the brave.""We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her youngsters. They blocked parents making an attempt to prepare to cost in to stop the shooter, including a father who realized his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians resolve that the lobbyist and gun industries are more vital than our kids's freedom to go to school without needing bulletproof backpacks and energetic shooter drills," Kapler wrote.
Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the shortage of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."
"I'm not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I may have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that whenever you're dissatisfied with your country, you let it be recognized via protest. The home of the courageous should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion towards gun violence in the US.Kerr refused to speak about basketball forward of Sport 4 of the Warriors' collection against the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute raising his voice as he railed against gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's shooting.
"Within the final 10 days, we've had aged Black people killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we have kids murdered at school," Kerr told reporters at the beginning of the press conference.
"When are we going to do one thing? I am tired. I'm so tired of getting up here and providing condolences to the devastated families that are out there ... I am bored with the moments of silence. Sufficient."
