800 staff resign after company asks them to work from office

Because the Covid situation has improved, several firms have already called their staff to workplace, ending the make money working from home (WFH).

However, it appears some employees wish to work from home further. Not too long ago, a whole bunch of workers have resigned when a company asked them to come to the workplace.

Over 800 WhiteHat Jr employees have resigned from the youngsters online coding learning edtech start-up in the final two months after being asked to work from office.

This comes after WhiteHat Jr, a platform which was acquired by BYJU’S in 2020, requested its employees to return to workplace inside a month’s time, in line with an Inc42 report.

On March 18, the corporate introduced the coverage to end do business from home and asked remote staff to return to workplace by April 18.

The resignations came from full-time staff of the sales, coding, and math teams. Extra staff are expected to put down their papers within the coming months.

One of the employees who resigned instructed the website that a month’s time was not sufficient for relocation. “Some have children, some have aged and sick mother and father, whereas others have other obligations. It isn't proper to name again employees in such a short time period,” the previous WhiteHat Jr employee mentioned.

One other worker mentioned salaries also factored within the decision to not return to the office. On the time of hiring, employees have been told about their job location – WhiteHat Jr has workplaces in Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Nevertheless, after working from home for two years, employees believed that their salaries ought to be revised to reflect the cost of residing in costly cities.

“This was a well-planned and managed layoff that WhiteHat Jr did,” a former employee remarked.
