Supreme Courtroom says wrongful loss of life lawsuit in opposition to Dallas officers can go ahead

DALLAS - The excessive courtroom will allow a wrongful loss of life lawsuit to proceed against the city of Dallas and 4 police officers.

The family of a person who died in police custody in 2016 sued.

Tony Timpa known as police for help as he had a drug and psychological health disaster.

The city fought against releasing body digital camera video and whit it did come out it was obvious why. It confirmed the officers mocking the dying man.

One had his knee on Timpa’s again and neck for almost 15 minutes and the medical expert stated that contributed to his dying.

Town of Dallas argued the officers are legally shielded from lawsuits.

The Supreme Court docket upheld a federal appeals court’s ruling that will enable the case to proceed.

"The decision implies that the case can proceed to trial and that there will likely be no extra delays from any appellate court. Also, the choice means that the Fifth Circuit did it right that their ruling regarding lethal pressure will be the regulation of the land a minimum of in Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana for as long as we all know," stated Geoff Henley, an attorney for Timpa’s family.

Those are the states covered by the Fifth Circuit Court docket of Appeals ruling allowing the swimsuit to continue.

Three years in the past, the Dallas district lawyer dropped legal costs in opposition to three of the officers.
