A California district lawyer declined to file prices Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police reports and movies of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Workplace concluded its review of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery in opposition to another passenger on an airplane while ready on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe said in a press release.

"Our choice is that we will not file any costs in opposition to Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the sufferer leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no prices be filed on this case," Wagstaffe stated.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what occurred earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file expenses by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement agencies "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
