Mike Tyson won’t face prices in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district attorney says

A California district attorney declined to file costs Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police experiences and videos of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no prices be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Office concluded its assessment of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane while waiting on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe stated in a statement.

"Our determination is that we will not file any prices against Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These include the conduct of the victim main up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no costs be filed in this case," Wagstaffe stated.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not show what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file costs by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement businesses "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
