Talking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going forward until I feel better about the path of our nation."

"I'm not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I may have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that whenever you're dissatisfied along with your country, you let it's recognized via protest. The house of the courageous should encourage this."
