A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass shooting, authorities stated.

In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" sent by a pupil at an elementary college.

It stated its native college risk enforcement crew was instantly notified and started investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's workplace stated.

In video shared by authorities, the boy could be seen being led into a police car.

“This student’s behavior is sickening, particularly after the latest tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in an announcement, noting that the risk came just days after the deadly college shooting at Robb Elementary School left 19 college students and two teachers lifeless.

“Right now shouldn't be the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he stated. “This youngster made a faux risk, and now he’s experiencing actual penalties.”

Marceno said his team “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to investigate the incident.
