A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to carry out a mass capturing, authorities stated.

In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" sent by a scholar at an elementary school.

It said its native college menace enforcement team was instantly notified and started investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass taking pictures," the sheriff's office stated.

In video shared by authorities, the boy will be seen being led into a police car.

“This pupil’s behavior is sickening, especially after the current tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement, noting that the threat came simply days after the deadly college capturing at Robb Elementary School left 19 students and two lecturers dead.

“Right now is not the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not funny,” he mentioned. “This little one made a faux risk, and now he’s experiencing actual penalties.”

Marceno said his crew “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to research the incident.

The remark got here as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the May 24 college capturing after it came to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup as a substitute of instantly moving in on the gunman.
