The coverage, disclosed in leaked emails Musk despatched to Tesla's executive employees Tuesday, was first reported by electrical vehicle news site Electrek.
"Anybody who needs to do distant work must be within the office for a minimum (and I mean *minimum*) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. This is less than we ask of factory staff," Musk wrote, adding that the workplace must be the worker's primary workplace where the opposite staff they regularly interact with are based — "not a distant branch office unrelated to the job duties."
Musk stated he would personally overview any request for exemption from the policy, but that for probably the most part, "In case you don't show up, we are going to assume you have resigned."
Tesla (TSLA) didn't reply to a request for touch upon the coverage change, however Musk appeared to substantiate it in a tweet of his personal early Wednesday when requested on Twitter, "Hey Elon...any further remark to people who assume coming into work is an antiquated idea?"
