Comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked onstage Tuesday night as he carried out at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl arena, with movies from audience members' cellphones quickly flooding social media and exhibiting a person appear to run onto the stage and deal with the comic.

Whereas the entire debacle was captured in multiple movies shot by members of the viewers, cell phone use was officially banned during the performance.  

The motivation for the preliminary assault remained unclear, and there was no speedy response from the Los Angeles Police Department to CBS Information' request for details about the incident.
