800 workers resign after company asks them to work from office

As the Covid situation has improved, several firms have already called their workers to office, ending the earn a living from home (WFH).

However, it seems some employees want to earn a living from home further. Lately, lots of of employees have resigned when an organization asked them to return to the workplace.

Over 800 WhiteHat Jr workers have resigned from the children online coding learning edtech start-up within the last two months after being requested to work from office.

This comes after WhiteHat Jr, a platform which was acquired by BYJU’S in 2020, asked its workers to return to office inside a month’s time, in response to an Inc42 report.

On March 18, the company introduced the policy to finish work at home and requested distant employees to return to workplace by April 18.

The resignations got here from full-time staff of the sales, coding, and math teams. Extra employees are anticipated to put down their papers within the coming months.

One of the employees who resigned advised the website that a month’s time was not enough for relocation. “Some have youngsters, some have aged and sick mother and father, whereas others produce other tasks. It is not proper to name back employees in such a short time frame,” the former WhiteHat Jr worker stated.

One other worker mentioned salaries also factored in the decision to not return to the office. At the time of hiring, staff had been told about their job location – WhiteHat Jr has workplaces in Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Nonetheless, after working from dwelling for 2 years, employees believed that their salaries must be revised to reflect the cost of living in expensive cities.

“This was a well-planned and managed layoff that WhiteHat Jr did,” a former worker remarked.
