BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass faculty shooting that might have included a bombing at Berkeley Excessive Faculty, police say.
The teen was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department said in a press launch. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no college that day.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing damaging system supplies and threatening to commit a criminal offense which is able to lead to loss of life or great bodily harm.
Police said they obtained a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a taking pictures that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence.
Police didn't say if the teen was a pupil at Berkeley Excessive School.
Upon executing the search warrant, police said they found parts to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and electronic items that could be used to create extra weapons.
At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teen's arrest.

"Faculty safety stays a excessive precedence for the department," police said in a press release.
Details on whom the teen was trying to recruit weren't disclosed. Police said this case remains underneath investigation.
Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens informed the varsity's neighborhood that the district was in close contact with police during this investigation.
After police confiscated the teen's weapon components, the district relied on police expertise to evaluate any potential ongoing risk to its faculties. The district communicated with police on the student's whereabouts.
"As added precautions throughout this era, we alerted our administrative and security employees about this investigation and, as is our normal practice, maintained shut contact with our BPD College Resource Officer on the Berkeley Excessive Faculty campus," Stephens wrote. "Throughout the investigation period, we have been assured that this particular person didn't pose an instantaneous risk to the Berkeley High School community."
The district is conducting their very own investigation on this matter.
The district might pursue disciplinary motion in opposition to the coed.
In addition, a city corridor meeting titled: ' Discuss to Children About Faculty Violence' provided by Alameda County Workplace of Education is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
